Psychotherapy at Physio Fitness
At Physio Fitness, we help you move better, feel stronger, and get back to doing what you love. But recovery isn’t always just about joints, muscles, or strength.
For a small number of people — particularly those with long-standing pain, recurring flare-ups, or unexplained plateaus — the missing piece isn’t more exercise. It’s nervous system regulation. That’s where our trusted psychotherapist, Lisa Skeffington, can help.
Is this for you?
Why this matters in physiotherapy
Your body and your nervous system aren’t separate. After long periods of pain or stress, your system can stay in “protection mode.” Even when tissues are healing well, you might notice pain lingering, flare-ups during stressful times, ongoing tension, or poor sleep. This doesn’t mean your pain isn’t real — it means your system is working hard to protect you, sometimes a little too hard. For some people, helping the nervous system feel safe again is what supports the next phase of physical progress.
Who is Lisa Skeffington?
Lisa is a registered psychotherapist with over 27 years’ experience in the health and wellbeing field. Through her company Empowered MOMENTUM, she supports people who appear capable and strong on the outside, yet are quietly dealing with anxiety, self-doubt, or emotional overload. While “psychotherapist” is the term most people recognise, Lisa’s work goes beyond traditional talking therapy.
Her particular expertise lies in high-functioning anxiety, buried emotional trauma, self-esteem, and relationship dynamics — the kind of deeper, structured support that can help a nervous system that feels tense, overwhelmed, or stuck in stress mode.
